Getting Started

Printer Installation

  1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your internet router via and ethernet cable.

  2. Go to Control Panel on your PC.

  3. In the Control Panel go to Devices and Printers

(This may be called Printers and Faxes in older versions of Windows)

  4. Verify if the Star TSP100 printer is already listed among the installed printers.

    1. It may be called the Star TSP100 Cutter (TSP742)

  5. If the printer is already installed please skip to the Get & Set IP Address. If it is not please continue step by step.

Downloading the Driver

  1. Download the Star TSP100 driver for this printer.

    1. Navigate to the support website for the Star TSP100 by clicking here

    2. Download the TSP100 futurePRNT Software Full

    3. Agree to the Software Licence

    4. The download will now begin

  2. Once downloaded unzip the file by right-clicking and selecting Extract All

  3. Open the Setup Folder and double-click on the file named Setup to start the installer.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Printer Driver.

    1. You will be prompted to choose a Setup Type, we recommend choosing Typical

  5. Once completed the printer should now show up in your Control Panel as Star TSP100, please note there may be small differences in the name of the printer. It may take a few minutes to complete

Get & Set IP Address

  1. After the driver has been installed click the Windows button at the bottom left and type Ethernet

  2. In the results, it should show the Ethernet Setup Tool. Click on this to open it.

    1. If you are unable to find this you can find the software by going to Program Files (x86) > Starmicronics > Star TSP100 > EthernetSetting

  3. Once the Ethernet setup tool is open click the 'Search LAN for TSP100' button

  4. Wait until your printer shows up on the list

  5. We recommend setting a static IP address, to avoid the IP address of the printer changing in the future.

    1. To set the static IP address, select your printer from the list

    2. Click the Change TCP/IP setting to set a static IP.

  6. Once you are happy with your IP address, Click the Add Printer Queue button. This will add your printer to the Windows Control Panel.

Before proceeding to the next step, please make sure QZ Tray is installed. If you need assistance with this, refer to our dedicated QZ Tray article.

Troubleshooting

Printer not found

If you are presented with this message then it most likely means that the name of the printer in Windows Control Panel does not exactly match the name of the printer on the Settings > Hardware page in CleanCloud. You should change the name of the printer in CleanCloud and press the Update button below.

Another reason for this is if you installed the printer after installing QZTray. In this case, you may have to exit QZTray by right-clicking on the icon in the system tray and pressing Exit. Then reopen QZTray.

QZTray is not running: Error is shown despite being installed and running

This sometimes happens if you are using a Firefox web browser. We recommend you download and install Chrome instead

It can also happen if you are using an old version of Windows like Windows XP with QZTray. If you are using an old version of Windows then we recommend you download QZTray version 2.0.3

Printer Cables are not connected or the Printer is not turned on

Make sure the cables are connected tightly to the computer and the printer. Also, make sure that the printer is turned on and has paper.
