Please note that this guide should not be used with the Star webPRNT printers.

Also, note that the Star TSP100 does not work with Mac. This guide is primarily for setting up the Star SP700 (USB) or if you have a TSP654II (USB)

STEP 1: Install the Star CUPS Driver

  1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected by USB to your Mac

  2. Once downloaded unzip the driver file. Then open the unzipped folder and then open the Driver folder. Run the starcupsdrv-4.2.0.pkg file. This will start an installer.

  3. Follow the instructions in the installer. Once completed it will prompt you to restart the computer which you should do

STEP 2: Check that your Printer is Installed

  1. After restarting your Mac go to System Preferences

  2. Click on Printers & Scanners

  3. You should see your Star printer show up there. If it is an SP700 it will likely show as Star SP742 (STR-001) . You must make a note of this exact name as you will need it later.

  4. If the printer has not shown up there yet, try waiting a few minutes, closing Printers & Scanners then return to it.

STEP 3: Download and Install QZTray

  1. QZTray is the software that CleanCloud uses to communicate with your printers and automatically print the receipts.

    1. Download the latest version of QZTray from https://qz.io/download/

    2. Once downloaded run the file to start the installation of QZTray

    3. Follow the instructions in the install wizard

    4. During installation a prompt box may appear asking you to install Java to proceed. If this box appears press OK to be taken to the Java download website. Click Agree and Download to download and install Java. Once Java has been successfully installed, return to the QZTray installation to finish it

    5. Once QZTray has finished installing it will open QZTray. A little printer icon will appear in your system tray at the bottom right of your screen.

STEP 4: Add to CleanCloud

  1. Login to your CleanCloud account and go to the Settings > Hardware

  2. Select Star from the printer manufacturer drop down menu for either the Garment Tag / Receipt printer

  3. Enter the printer name you saw in STEP 2, for example Star SP742 (STR-001)

  4. Select auto print garment tag / receipt if you wish.

  5. Press the Update button

  6. Printer is ready to use. Try making a dummy order.
