Google Chrome Update – QZ Tray Printing Permissions

Chrome update requires a new printing permission for QZ Tray. Learn what to click to keep printing working in CleanCloud.

A recent Google Chrome update introduces a new security permission that affects how CleanCloud communicates with your printer via QZ Tray. This change requires a one-time action from you to ensure printing continues to work as normal.

What you need to do

When you open CleanCloud in Chrome, you may see a popup asking permission to:

"Access other apps and services on this device"

  • Click Allow.

If you click Block, CleanCloud will be unable to send print commands to your printer.

Why this permission is needed

CleanCloud uses QZ Tray to send print commands from your browser directly to your local printers. Chrome's updated security settings now require you to explicitly grant this permission before the connection can be established.

Accidentally clicked Block?

No problem. Follow these steps to reset the permission:

  1. Click the settings icon to the left of the URL bar in Chrome

  2. Find Apps on device

  3. Change the setting to Allow

  4. Refresh the page

Printing should now work as expected.
