If you're setting up your Star mC-Print3 printer with CleanCloud on your iPad, this guide will walk you through the necessary steps to ensure a smooth installation. From resetting the printer to configuring it with your POS system, follow these instructions to get your printer up and running for receipt printing.
ⓘ Skip to Step 2 if your printer is brand new and hasn't been configured yet.
Step 1: Reset the Printer
For a previously configured printer, connect it to the power supply but leave the Ethernet cable disconnected. Then, follow these steps:
Turn off the printer if it’s on.
Press and hold the 'Reset' button.
Press the 'Power' button to turn it on.
When the LAN LED flashes, release the 'Reset' button.
Press and hold the 'Feed' button.
Release the 'Feed' button after the LAN LED goes off.
You will hear a cutter sound.
Step 2: Perform a Self-Print
Once the printer is reset to default settings, connect the Ethernet/LAN cable to your network router (the same one providing Wi-Fi to your iPad). Follow these steps to print the printer settings:
Turn off the printer if it's on.
Press and hold the 'Feed' button.
Press the 'Power' button to turn on while holding the 'Feed' button.
Release the 'Feed' button when printing starts.
Step 3: Assign a Static IP Address
Now that the printer settings have been printed, we need to assign a static IP address. Here's how:
Find the 'Current IP Parameters Status' on the printed page. You will see:
IP Address: 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Enter the IP address in your browser's URL section to access the printer settings.
Log in with the username "root" and password "public."
Click on IP Parameters under Network Configuration, and select Static.
Enter the same IP address from the printed page, but change the last digit to a random number between 100-250 (e.g., 192.168.1.250).
Copy the Subnet Mask and Default Gateway from the printed page to the corresponding fields.
Click Save, then Execute and wait for the printer to restart.
Step 4: Connect to CleanCloud
After assigning a static IP address, it's time to set up the printer on CleanCloud.
Install CleanCloud POS on your iPad and log into your store.
Tap the Settings icon (three bars at the top left).
Go to Hardware, and ensure you're on the Receipt Printer page.
Select Star (iPad/Android App only) for the Printer Manufacturer/Type.
Enter the IP address in the format: TCP:IPAddressOfPrinter.
(This needs to be done with no spaces between TCP:IP)
Note: Make sure to enter the IP address you assigned in Step 3.
Scroll down and tap Update to save the settings.
✅ Once completed, you should be able to print receipts using CleanCloud POS on your iPad.
