CleanCloud Payroll (powered by Gusto) offers three direct deposit speeds for paying employees and contractors:
Next-Day Payments
2-Day Payments (default for most new employers)
4-Day Payments
Your default speed may change based on eligibility. You can request an upgrade by contacting our team.
Next-Day Payments
With next-day payments, you can run payroll or contractor payments one business day before payday.
ⓘ Important: Employees will receive their pay in the afternoon or early evening on payday.
Requirements for Next-Day Payments
Maintain sufficient funds in your bank account.
If we can’t debit the account, payments will be blocked, and next-day status will be removed.
Payments exceeding your direct deposit limit will default to 4-day processing.
Deadline: Submit payments by 4:00 PM PT one business day before the check date.
Example Timeline
Thursday (by 4 PM PT): Run payroll.
Thursday: Funds are debited.
Friday: Employees receive funds between 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM local time.
2-Day Payments
With 2-day payments, payroll must be submitted two business days before payday.
Funds are typically deposited earlier in the day than next-day payments.
Requirements for 2-Day Payments
Keep sufficient funds in your account.
Overdrafts or failed debits will block payments and deactivate 2-day access.
Payments over your deposit limit will be processed in four business days.
Deadline: Submit payroll by 4:00 PM PT two business days before payday.
Example Timeline
Wednesday (by 4 PM PT): Run payroll.
Wednesday: Funds are debited.
Friday: Employees receive funds, typically in the morning.
4-Day Payments
With 4-day payments, payroll must be submitted four business days before the check date.
This is typically the fallback schedule for payments exceeding your limit or accounts that don't meet faster-speed criteria.
Requirements for 4-Day Payments
Funds must be available at the time payroll is submitted.
Depending on your bank, the debit may happen same-day or the following day.
Deadline: Run payroll by 4:00 PM PT four business days before payday.
Example Timeline
Monday (by 4 PM PT): Run payroll.
Tuesday – Thursday: Funds are processing.
Friday: Employees receive funds, usually in the morning.
👉 If you miss the deadline for any payment speed, you can:
Submit a late payment, or
Pay employees manually by check for that payroll.
