Sending Email Notifications Using Your Domain

Learn how to set up email notifications with your own domain, including pricing, setup steps, and troubleshooting domain verification.

By default, CleanCloud sends order update emails from an automatic address generated when your account is created. This typically includes your store’s name and the CleanCloud domain (e.g., [email protected]).

However, you can choose to send notifications using your own domain for a one-time setup fee. For example, if your domain is mydrycleaner.com, emails can be sent from [email protected].

⚠️ Important Considerations

Before switching to a custom domain, please note these limitations:

  • Apple Private Relay: If a customer registers using Apple’s private relay, emails from a custom domain will not be delivered. Only emails from @cleancloudapp.com will reach them.

    • Note: Advanced users with an Apple Developer Account may be able to resolve this manually–see our guide here.

  • Email Replies: Replies will go to your external inbox (e.g., Gmail or Outlook) rather than the CleanCloud POS Inbox. You will need to monitor this separately.

  • Legacy Address: Any emails sent to your old CleanCloud-generated address will no longer be captured.

Pricing

Setting up a custom email domain involves a one-time fee:

  • $75 (USD)

  • £65 + VAT (GBP)

  • €65 (EUR)

Grow and Grow+ subscribers can access this feature at no extra cost.

Setup Steps

  1. Request Setup: Contact CleanCloud Support with the email address you’d like to use.

  2. Receive CNAME Records: Our team will send you the CNAME values needed for verification.

  3. Update Your DNS: Log in to your domain provider (e.g., GoDaddy, Google Domains) and enter the records exactly as provided.

  4. Verification: Once added, we will verify the configuration. Your emails will then be sent from your branded address.

Troubleshooting Domain Verification

If your domain is not verified within 72 hours, check the following:

  • DNS Field Names: Your domain provider may use different terms:

    • Name/Host → could be labeled Host or Hostname

    • Record value → could be labeled Points to or Result

  • Domain Name Appending: Some providers automatically add your domain name to the Host value. If so:

    • Manually remove the extra domain text

    • Or add a period (.) at the end of the Host value

  • Underscore Requirement: CNAME records often require an underscore _ in the Name/Host. If your provider doesn't support underscores, contact their support for assistance.

  • AWS Region-Specific Records: Verification records differ by AWS Region.

If you plan to send emails from multiple AWS regions, you’ll need to verify your domain separately for each region.

ℹ️ Still having trouble?
If AWS troubleshooting doesn’t resolve the issue, please contact your domain provider directly. They can either add the records for you or assist in resolving any restrictions.
