Due to the removal of pennies in various global currencies and the ongoing shortage of pennies in the US, CleanCloud provides an easy way to round order totals on both the New Order and Ready pages. This helps ensure smoother transactions and cleaner receipts.

How to Enable Penny Rounding

  1. Go to Admin → Workflow → General Settings.

  2. Locate the Penny Rounding dropdown.

  3. Select your preferred rounding option: $0.02 | $0.05 | $0.10.

  4. Choose whether rounding should apply to:

    • Cash payments only, or

    • All transactions.

  5. Click Save.

Once enabled, order totals will automatically round based on your selection.

How Rounding Works

CleanCloud applies symmetric rounding to the final order total. Rounding is applied to the total amount charged to the customer, not individual line items.

Example: Rounding to the nearest $0.05

  • Totals ending in 1¢ or 2¢ round down to 0¢

  • Totals ending in 3¢ or 4¢ round up to 5¢

  • Totals ending in 6¢ or 7¢ round down to 5¢

  • Totals ending in 8¢ or 9¢ round up to 10¢

This ensures payments are adjusted fairly to the nearest 5 cents.

👉 Important Notes

  • Penny rounding does not apply to batched orders.

  • If multiple orders are processed together in a batch, rounding will not be applied. To use penny rounding, orders must be processed individually.

  • Rounding is applied only at the point of payment, based on your selected settings.
