If you’re seeing payment errors or timeouts when processing card transactions through Clearent, here’s what’s going on and how to manage it.

What’s Happening?

There may be temporary issues affecting card authorizations through Clearent, our integrated payment provider. These incidents can impact Visa and other card types, depending on the source of the disruption.

You may see payment errors or receive messages indicating that a transaction has timed out or failed.

How It Affects You

When this issue occurs, you may notice:

• Payment errors during checkout

• Delays or timeouts when authorizing card transactions

• Transactions appearing to fail, even if a hold is placed on the customer’s card

• Duplicate or unclear charges if the payment is retried too soon

This can affect both in-store and online card payments processed through CleanCloud.

What To Do

Clearent recommends not re-running failed transactions during an active authorization issue. Retrying may lead to duplicate charges or confusion for customers.

Clearent recommends avoiding retries for failed transactions during an ongoing authorization issue, as this can result in duplicate charges or confusion for customers.

We suggest:

  • Waiting for confirmation that the issue is resolved

  • Letting customers know their transaction may be pending

  • Checking Clearent’s status page for updates: https://status.clearent.net
